Starts: 14:00

'Of Oats and Mutches'

Talk by Maureen Hammond

Laggan Village Hall, 2pm. Organised by Laggan Heritage  http://www.lagganheritage.com/ongoing.html

Maureen's talk will explore the textiles of Badenoch with a particular focus on the 18th century, based on pieces held in the collection of The Highland Folk Museum and archival sources at the Highland Archive Centre.

Themes of the talk will include identity and colour in 18th century Gaelic culture and there will be a chance to see some local textiles close-up.

Maureen is a native of Kingussie, and is a PhD candidate at the University of the Highlands and Islands. Her research focuses on Badenoch textiles of the 18th century and is undertaken in a partnership between UHI and Highlife Highland.

Maureen's talk will start at 2.00pm but join us, if you wish, from 1.00pm for a bowl of soup and a blether beforehand.
